Social & Environmental Responsibility
T.R.A.P.P. Stars believes that social and environmental responsibility should be an integral part of not only running an organization but also in what we teach the young people we work with. We are completely committed to running our organization with a strong commitment to reducing waste and energy to minimize our carbon footprint as well as using recycled and re-purposed materials.
T.R.A.P.P. Stars Offerings
T.R.A.P.P. Stars Inc, works closely with court involved youth with the District of Columbia. We work hand to hand with government agencies’ youth and family division’s, Such as The Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, Department of Behavioral Health, and Child Family Services Agency. Focusing on repairing harm that may have happened at home or their communities. Targeting the young person who is court involved, their family, and their communities (neighborhood, schools, etc.)
Training will include life skills development, healing work, exercise and nutrition, story telling, arts and craft. The youth that we serve suffer through complex trauma, and ts they practice relaxing and self care.
The center will also bring in numerous community partners to create a hub for local services. One of the greatest barriers to services in our community. We can be a support between families and schools. Home visits for local referrals (food, clothes, needs)
While the youth center itself is a great resource, getting the teens out into the community (or out of the community) can be life changing. Through field trips we are able to provide cultural and hands on learning experience. Local trips include community service projects, hiking, camping, and trips to local businesses, theaters and skating. Youth have also expressed an interest in out-of-town trips such as ski and snowboarding, professional sport games, visiting college Universities and exploring cultural, theater and art performance in our city as well as others.
Youth are welcome every day after school to socialize with peers, receive homework help, a snack, play games and engage in enrichments opportunities. The program will be equipped with art supplies, books, computers and calculators in order to help them with their school work. Volunteers will also be available to help tutor the youth.
We provide mental health and substance use services – through a partnership with Hillcrest Children and family center.
The artistic expression for youth is a vital part of development. At the youth center, there will be arts and craft corner, regular art workshops, opportunities for youth to showcase their art, and a recording studio.

Helping young people use their voice for community issues like gun violence, food access, and moe
Weekend events are special events planned out by the youth and the staff in the center. The events help boost our attendance, gain community support, recruit new members and give youth something fun to do on the weekends. Weekend events are usually activities that are bigger or more elaborate than a regular after school program.
